Program Overview

The program will teach you how to assist doctors and healthcare professionals with care for patients. As a medical assistant, you will likely work in a variety of environments that include medical offices, clinics, hospitals, and other healthcare facilities. Graduates will be qualified for an entry- level position as a Medical Assistant Technician.


This 1,300 clock-hour selective admission certificate program prepares the student for specific clinical, laboratory, and administrative roles as a Medical Assistant employed in a physician’s office, clinic or other ambulatory health care setting. The program can be completed in 48 weeks.


Classroom theory and clinical practice prepare the student to perform a wide range of tasks ranging from examination room techniques to assisting with minor surgery, administering medications, educating patients, performing diagnostic procedures including drawing blood and electrocardiography, scheduling appointments, maintaining patient files, and completing insurance forms.


Practicum experience includes supervised, uncompensated field work in a physician’s office or other appropriate facility. Upon completion of this program students will receive a Diploma, and graduates will be eligible to take the nationally recognized Certified Medical Assistant exam.

Program Objectives:

Develop Clinical Skills Proficiency: Train students in essential clinical tasks such as administering injections, performing EKGs, assisting with minor surgical procedures, and preparing patients for examinations.

Master Administrative Responsibilities: Equip students with the skills necessary to manage front-office tasks, including patient scheduling, medical billing and coding, and maintaining accurate medical records.

Understand Medical Terminology and Anatomy: Provide students with a solid foundation in medical terminology and human anatomy to enhance their ability to communicate effectively in a healthcare setting.

Promote Patient Care and Communication: Foster strong interpersonal skills and patient care techniques, ensuring that students can communicate effectively with patients and healthcare team members while providing compassionate care.

Ensure Competence in Medication Administration: Educate students on proper medication administration, including dosage calculations, medication routes, and understanding pharmacology principles.

Prepare for Certification and Career Advancement: Prepare students to successfully pass certification exams such as the Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), positioning them for career advancement in the healthcare field.

Instill Ethical and Professional Standards: Emphasize the importance of professionalism, confidentiality, and ethical practices in all aspects of medical assisting, preparing students to work in diverse healthcare environments with integrity.
